From 《渔歌子》 by 张志和 (Zhang Zhihe, Tang dynasty): '西塞山前白鹭飞，桃花流水鳜鱼肥。青箬笠，绿蓑衣，斜风细雨不须归.' One of the earliest ci 词 poems, a five-line fisherman song that became a template for East Asian nature painting and Japanese waka.
usage
须 (xū) here = 'need / have to,' classical sense — same as 必须. 不须 = 'need not / no need to.'
