history
From Wenxi in Shanxi. As a Censor (监察御史), he was one of the most vocal court officials backing the 1898 Hundred Days' Reform. After Empress Dowager Cixi's coup, he was beheaded at Caishikou in Beijing along with Tan Sitong (谭嗣同), Liu Guangdi, Lin Xu, Yang Rui, and Kang Guangren — collectively the 君子.
