Two famous Yang Yongs: the Sui-dynasty 杨勇 (d. 604) was Emperor Wen's firstborn and crown prince, pushed aside by his scheming brother 杨广 (later the notorious Emperor Yang). In the 20th century, PLA general 杨勇 (1913-1983) commanded the Chinese People's Volunteer Army in the final phase of the Korean War and was one of 55 senior generals (上将) ranked in 1955.
