In imperial China the /檄书 was a public document rallying troops or denouncing an enemy. Chen Lin's 《》, attacking Cao Cao before the Battle of Guandu (200 CE), is the canonical example — Cao Cao reportedly read it while ill and was so startled by its force that his headache vanished.
