In poems 钟山 stands for Nanjing itself. Mao's line 钟山风雨起苍黄 (1949) is about the capture of the city, and Wang Anshi's 钟山只隔数重山 'Zhongshan lies only a few ranges of hills away' looks back at it from across the Yangtze.
mistakes
It sounds the same as 中山, Sun Yat-sen's best-known name. His tomb 中山陵 stands on 钟山, which makes the two easy to mix up.
