From Mao Zedong's (
毛泽东) 《
卜算子·
咏梅》(1961):
待到山花烂漫时,
她在丛中笑。(When the mountain flowers bloom in full glory, she will smile among them.) 'She' is the plum blossom (
梅) — blooming in snow, unenvious of spring, quietly smiling when the other flowers finally arrive. A reply poem to Lu You's plum-blossom ci of the same tune.
