Tips

history
From 毛泽东's 《卜算子·咏梅》 (1961): 待到山花烂漫时她在丛中笑. 'She' is the plum blossom (), blooming in snow, unenvious of spring, smiling quietly when the other flowers finally arrive. A reply poem to 陆游's plum-blossom ci of the same tune.
usage
烂漫 means 'profuse, riotous, unrestrained' in bloom, not the English loan 'romantic,' even though the sound is similar. Used metaphorically for any delayed but inevitable success.
