From 《九月九日忆山东兄弟》 by 王维 (Wang Wei, Tang dynasty, written at age 17): '独在异乡为异客，每逢佳节倍思亲。遥知兄弟登高处，遍插茱萸少一人.' The festival in question is 重阳节 (Double Ninth), whose custom is climbing heights and wearing 茱萸 (dogwood) sprigs.
