'The thread in a loving mother's hand becomes the coat on her wandering son. Before he leaves she sews it tight, afraid he will be slow to return. Who can say a blade of grass repays the sunshine of three spring months?' 孟郊 wrote it at about fifty, when at last he had a post and brought his mother to live with him.
