御 (yù) is the prefix for anything pertaining to the emperor — 御膳 (yùshàn, imperial cuisine), 御医 (yùyī, court physician), 御花园 (yùhuāyuán, imperial garden). 御酒 was both a daily court beverage and a tool of patronage: receiving a cup directly from the emperor's hand was a major mark of favor.
