In casual speech most people just say App (read like English) or 应用. The full 手机应用 is more written/formal — you see it in news articles and app-store descriptions, not chat.

Note 应用 here is the noun 'application'. The same characters as a verb mean 'to apply / put to use', and the noun reading is the same yìngyòng — context tells you which.
