The most-cited Pingshan is the county in
宜宾 on the upper Yangtze in Sichuan, home to the
老君山 fossil mountain. The name literally means 'screen mountain', a mountain whose shape resembles a
屏风, a folding decorative screen. Several smaller Pingshans exist nationwide for the same reason.
