The six were 礼 rites, 乐 music, 射 archery, 御 charioteering, 书 writing and 数 arithmetic. Han scholars also used 六艺 for the six Confucian classics: the Songs, Documents, Rites, Music, Changes and Spring and Autumn Annals.
