Tips

usage
The erhua form of 绕远 and the one actually said in Beijing and the northeast; printed notices keep the bare 绕远. Either way it complains that the extra distance was avoidable, a flavor the neutral 绕路 does not carry.
mistakes
The is not a separate syllable. The word is said in two beats, ràoyuǎnr, with the tongue curling up at the end of the second; reading it as ràoyuǎn ér is the usual sign the word was met on paper first.
