In the legend 织女, who weaves the clouds in heaven, marries the mortal cowherd 牛郎. Heaven parts them with the Milky Way, and once a year, on 七夕, magpies form a bridge so they can meet; the whole story is called 牛郎织女. The star Vega is formally 织女星.
