Tips

culture
曹植 says he wrote it in 222, crossing the Luo River on his way home from the capital, and that it tells of meeting the goddess of the river. His picture of her, 翩若惊鸿,婉若游龙, 'light as a startled swan, graceful as a swimming dragon', is still used for a graceful woman.
history
A later legend says the goddess was really Lady Zhen, the wife of his brother 曹丕, whom Cao Zhi had loved, and that the piece was first called 感甄赋. Historians doubt it.
