Named after the 水井街 distillery site in Chengdu, where 1998 excavations uncovered fermentation pits dating back to the Yuan–Ming era - marketed as 'the oldest continuously operating distillery in the world.' Diageo acquired majority control in 2011, making it one of the first Chinese baijiu brands with a Western corporate parent.
