袖狗 (literally 'sleeve dog') is the historical Chinese term for the tiny Pekingese kept by Qing palace women, small enough to be carried in the wide sleeves of court robes. Some Western writers translate the term as 'sleeve dog' or 'sleeve Pekingese'.
