Ruled from behind the curtain () through three emperors — Tongzhi, Guangxu and infant Puyi. Crushed the 1898 Hundred Days Reform, backed the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, and is widely blamed for accelerating the Qing's collapse. Died one day after her nephew Guangxu under suspicious circumstances.
