The first half praises
刘备:
天地英雄气,
千秋尚凛然。
势分三足鼎,
业复五铢钱。 'His heroic spirit, filling heaven and earth, still inspires awe after a thousand autumns. He split the empire like the three legs of a cauldron and set out to bring back the Han.' The second half turns to his son
刘禅, who lost the state to Wei, and to the Shu court's dancers, made to perform in the Wei palace.
刘禹锡 wrote it at the temple in Kuizhou while he was prefect there in the early 820s.
