Tips

history
From Liu Yuxi's (, Tang dynasty) 《》: 天地英雄千秋 — 'The heroic spirit of heaven and earth, after a thousand autumns still awe-inspiring; he carved a three-legged cauldron of power, restored the five-zhu coin as his enterprise.' Written at the shrine of Liu Bei (刘备), founder of Shu-Han in the Three Kingdoms period.
usage
(qì) here means 'spirit / vital energy' — the heroic presence that still emanates from a place centuries later. Almost always quoted with its twin 千秋. The couplet is a touchstone for invoking the enduring aura of a historical figure or site.
