藏书室 specifically means a private home library — a room used to store and display a personal book collection. Contrast with
图书馆 (túshūguǎn, public library) and
书房 (shūfáng, study room). In classical China, scholar-officials prized their
藏书 (book collections), and many famous literary
藏书楼 (book towers) survive as historical sites today.
