珠三角 is the standard short form of 珠江三角洲 (Zhūjiāng sānjiǎozhōu, 'Pearl River Delta'). News and business contexts use 珠三角 almost exclusively; the full form is reserved for geography textbooks.

Often paired with 长三角 (Chángsānjiǎo, Yangtze River Delta around Shanghai) as China's two great economic engines. Since 2017 the official policy term has been 粤港澳大湾区 (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area), but 珠三角 remains the everyday name.
