Seen in Luo Guanzhong's Ming-dynasty 《三国演义》 ch. 58: '西凉州前部先锋马岱,引军一万五千,浩浩荡荡漫山遍野而来。' — Ma Dai's army arrives so vast it covers the entire landscape.
usage
Used for things occurring in massive, landscape-covering quantity — flowers, livestock, soldiers, fruit trees, protesters. Works as adverbial modifier (漫山遍野地开) or predicate (花儿漫山遍野).
