Tips

history
Founded by Sima Yan 司马炎 in 265 when he deposed the last Wei emperor; the Sima family had spent a generation out-manoeuvring Cao Cao's heirs. Western Jin briefly reunited China (280) but collapsed into the Sixteen Kingdoms, pushing the court south to become Eastern Jin.
