history
Kublai Khan (忽必烈), grandson of Genghis, proclaimed the Yuan in 1271 and finished off the Southern Song in 1279 - taking the name ('origin/primal') from the I Ching phrase 大哉乾元. His capital Dadu (大都) became modern Beijing.
