Two adjacent eras spanning 770-221 BC, named after the chronicle 《春秋》 ('Spring and Autumn Annals', traditionally edited by Confucius) and the later phase of constant warfare among the seven major states. The 诸子百家 ('Hundred Schools of Thought') flowered here — Confucianism, Daoism, Mohism, Legalism — before Qin Shi Huang unified everything in 221 BC.
