Temple of Heaven

Imperial sacrificial complex in southern Beijing, built 1406-1420 alongside the Forbidden City, where Ming and Qing emperors performed winter-solstice rites and harvest prayers. Its round Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (祈年殿) is one of China's most recognizable buildings. UNESCO World Heritage since 1998.
