From 毛泽东《七律·到韶山》(Mao Zedong, 'Seven-character regulated verse: Reaching Shaoshan,' 1959): 喜看稻菽千重浪，遍地英雄下夕烟 (Joyfully I see rice and beans rolling in countless waves; heroes everywhere descend through the evening smoke). Mao wrote it revisiting his home village after 32 years. The line was later adopted as the title of a famous 2001 feature-article profile of rice scientist Yuan Longping (袁隆平).
usage
Reading: 菽 = shū (beans/pulses), NOT shú — a common misreading. The couplet often appears whole; solo use celebrates agricultural abundance or scientific success in farming.
