  2. 2 to sell out completely

Examples

Tips

memory
(qìng) = 'used up / empty to the bottom'. The right component is (an earthenware vessel) — picture the jar tipped completely empty. So 售罄 = 'sold (until) empty'. The character is rare outside this word and the chengyu (so many crimes you'd run out of bamboo to record them).
register
Slightly formal / written — common on e-commerce listings, ticket pages, and inventory dashboards. Casual conversation: 完了 (mài wán le, 'sold out'). Don't confuse (qìng) with (qìng, a stone chime) or (xīn, fragrance) — same right side , different bottoms.
