Tips

history
In October 1927, after the failed Autumn Harvest Uprising, 毛泽东 led his remaining troops into these mountains and set up the Communists' first rural base; Zhu De's forces joined them in 1928. It is now a centre of 红色旅游, 'red tourism'. Mao came back in 1965 and wrote 《水调歌头·重上井冈山》. The mountains also give their name to the city of 井冈山市.
