The 史记 says the Yellow Emperor fought the Yan Emperor "in the wilds of Banquan" and won after three battles, then defeated 蚩尤 at 涿鹿. Its site is uncertain; a common view places it near Zhuolu in northern Hebei.
culture
The union of the two rulers' peoples after the battle is behind 炎黄子孙 "descendants of Yan and Huang", a name for the Chinese people.
