Tips

culture
He is pictured with horns and a bronze head, and in battle he raised a great fog. The Yellow Emperor found his way through it with the south-pointing chariot, 指南车, helped by the goddess 九天玄女. Later Chiyou was worshipped as a god of war, and many of the Miao, 苗族, honor him as their ancestor. A hall at Zhuolu now honors 黄帝, 炎帝 and Chiyou together as forebears of the Chinese.
