One of China's 56 officially recognized ethnic groups (~11 million in the PRC). Known abroad as Hmong - the diaspora in Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, and the US largely uses that name. Elaborate silver headdresses, batik (蜡染), and the 苗年 new year festival are cultural signatures.
