Qian Qi passed the jinshi (
进士) imperial exam in 751 with the famous poem 《
省试湘灵鼓瑟》, whose closing couplet '
曲终人不见,
江上数峰青' ('The song ends and no one is seen — only a few green peaks above the river') became one of the most quoted endings in Tang poetry. He is counted among the
大历十才子 (Dàlì Shí Cáizǐ), the Ten Talents of the Dali era.
