Cai Xiang is grouped with Su Shi 苏轼 (Sū Shì), Huang Tingjian (Huáng Tíngjiān), and Mi Fu 米芾 (Mǐ Fú) as the (Sòng Sì Jiā, 'Four Masters of the Song'). He also designed the Wan'an Bridge in Quanzhou and wrote (Chá Lù), an early treatise on tea.
