Tips

history
习凿齿 (died c. 384) covered the period from Emperor Guangwu of Han to the end of the Western Jin in 54 scrolls. Unusually for his time he treated 蜀汉, not Wei, as the rightful heir of the Han, a view later taken up by 朱熹 and by the novel 三国演义. The book itself was lost and survives in quotations, above all in the notes to the 三国志.
culture
Several famous lines first appear in it, among them the young Wei emperor 曹髦's words 司马昭之心,路人所知也 'everyone in the street knows what Sima Zhao is after', and the story of 诸葛亮 capturing and freeing 孟获 seven times, 七擒七纵.
