Tips

The emperor Wen of the Liu Song ordered the work, and Pei presented it in 429. 陈寿's history is terse, so Pei added other accounts, anecdotes and his own judgements, making his notes nearly as long as the text. Many stories that the novel 《三国演义》 later told reached it through his commentary.
