Tips

history
The Wuchang Uprising (武昌起义) of 10 October 1911 began the revolution that ended the Qing, which is why that date is the Double Ten (双十节). Wuchang, 汉口 and 汉阳 together make up the three towns of Wuhan.
culture
When the Wu court moved to Wuchang in 265, its people sang 宁饮建业水,不食武昌鱼, 'we would rather drink Jianye water than eat Wuchang fish'. Mao Zedong turned the line round in 1956: 才饮长沙水,又食武昌鱼.
