Tips

usage
Two chengyu come from advice he was given: Mencius's 五十步笑百步, soldiers who fled fifty paces mocking those who fled a hundred, for scorning a fault you share; and 三人成虎, 'three people make a tiger', a minister's warning that a rumour repeated enough is believed.
usage
Each of the seven books of the Mencius is split into two parts, so passages are cited as 《孟子·梁惠王上》 or 《孟子·梁惠王下》.
