history

Chamdo (Tibetan: ཆབ་མདོ་) sits at the confluence of the Áng (昂曲) and Zá (扎曲) rivers — its Tibetan name literally means 'two-rivers junction'. It was the site of the 1950 Battle of Chamdo, after which the PRC negotiated the 17-Point Agreement with Tibet.
