Formal/written. The most common collocation is
恶语相向 ("to hurl abuse at one another") and
恶语伤人 ("to wound someone with vicious words"). In conversational Chinese you'd more often hear
难听的话 (nántīng de huà, "ugly things to say") or
骂人的话 (mànrén de huà, "insults").
