岩鸽 specifically denotes Columba rupestris, the hill pigeon of the highlands of central and inner Asia. The original wild
原鸽 (Columba livia) — ancestor of feral city pigeons — is also sometimes loosely called
岩鸽 in older / translated texts, which can cause confusion.
