岩鸽 specifically denotes Columba rupestris, the hill pigeon of the highlands of central and inner Asia. The original wild
原鸽 (Columba livia), ancestor of feral city pigeons, is also sometimes loosely called
岩鸽 in older or translated texts, which can cause confusion.
