宋代 covers both the 北宋 (960–1127, capital Kaifeng) and the 南宋 (1127–1279, capital Hangzhou). It means the Song of the Zhao family, not the earlier Song of the Southern Dynasties (南朝), which historians call 刘宋 after its ruling family.
