大白兔奶糖, made by Shanghai's 冠生园 (Guan Sheng Yuan) since 1959, is wrapped in edible rice paper and has a chewy milky texture. It is one of China's most iconic childhood candies and a symbol of nostalgic 国货 (domestic brands).
In 1972 Premier Zhou Enlai reportedly offered White Rabbit candies to President Nixon during his historic visit, giving the brand international recognition.
