Junying Yu was first author on the 2007 Science paper from James Thomson's lab at the University of Wisconsin that reported human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) — published almost simultaneously with Shinya Yamanaka's paper in Cell. Yamanaka later won the 2012 Nobel Prize for the discovery.
