On the night of Mid-Autumn, the whole family sits in the courtyard eating mooncakes and admiring the moon.
Tips
usage
中秋 is the short form of 中秋节, common in greetings like 中秋快乐 and in poetry. A well-known saying runs 月到中秋分外明 'the moon is never brighter than at Mid-Autumn'.
culture
The festival falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, the middle of autumn in the old calendar, hence the name. 苏轼's 《水调歌头》 was written on this night in 1076 and is recited every year.
