In 三国演义, Huang Zhong is already in his sixties when he joins Liu Bei yet outshoots and outfights much younger men. He is the patron image of 老当益壮 ('old yet vigorous'). His 219 CE beheading of the Wei commander Xiahou Yuan at Mount Dingjun is his most celebrated feat.

memory

忠 means 'loyal', fitting for the old general whose name literally reads 'Yellow Loyalty' and who refused to retire from his lord's service.
