鱼鳞 features in two evocative weather/landscape metaphors:
鱼鳞云 (yúlínyún, 'fish-scale clouds' = altocumulus mackerel sky) and
鱼鳞天 (a sky full of such clouds, taken in folk weather lore as a sign of coming rain). Also
鱼鳞瓦 (yúlínwǎ) — overlapping 'fish-scale tiles' on traditional roofs.
