Tips

culture
At over 3,000 metres it is famous for four sights: the sunrise, the sea of clouds (云海), the "Buddha's halo" (佛光), a rainbow ring around one's own shadow on the clouds, and the "holy lamps", points of light seen in the valleys at night. A gilded statue of the bodhisattva 普贤 stands on the summit.
usage
Other mountains also call their tops 金顶, such as 武当山 with its bronze Golden Hall, but on its own the word usually means the summit of Emei.
